Toon Strijbosch joined us as Head of Business Development
As Head of Business Development at DBG Bio Energy, Toon will be taking on the responsibility for contracting with DBG's existing and future partners like contractors, ports, off-takers, as well as for developing new projects. In order to be able to execute the envisaged scale up, Toon will also be involved with raising the necessary capital.
For the past five years, Toon has worked at ENGIE. In this role he was part of the management team that established a new Innovation and Business Development department called ENGIE Ventures & Integrated Solutions. During his time at ENGIE, the group has undergone a deep transformation, focusing its development on three core activities: gas, renewable energies and energy efficiency while firmly positioning itself in innovative activities. At ENGIE, it was Toon’s role to manage the venture portfolio, lead financial and legal structuring of strategic, innovative projects and partnerships.
Before working for Engie, Toon worked in a similar role at the Dutch engineering services company Arcadis. Earlier on in his career, he worked as a Mergers & Acquisitions Manager at UPC (Liberty Global) and Philips.
In 1993 Toon started his professional life at Shell Research after receiving a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Utrecht University.
Upon joining DBG, Toon said “I'm excited to join DBG and to be able to contribute my skills and experience to accelerate the growth of the business. With the development of the first plant well underway and many more to come, DBG provides the paper industry with an upcycling solution for the vast amounts of sludge produced every day. Personally, the opportunity to make a big, positive environmental impact with DBG's technology gives me real sense of purpose.”
DBG Managing Director, Berkay welcomed Toon by saying: “We are welcoming Toon and he will no doubt add a lot of value to the team. His past experience in the industry and his competences wil accelerate our development even further and we count on his contribution towards realising our DBG Bio Energy plant in Delfzijl but also towards all the other green initiatives which are underway”.
